A rare piece of British printmaking history. This bold vintage abstract screen print is by Kip Gresham, a celebrated master printmaker from Cambridge, England.
Gresham founded the Print Workshop in 1975 and later the Chilford Hall Press (1982) with partner Sam Alper. His distinguished career includes directing Curwen Chilford Prints (1989-94), Gresham Studios(1994-2001), and establishing the Print Studio in Cambridge in 2002. During his life he has produced over 2,500 editions and unique prints, collaborating with giants of British art, including Elizabeth Frink, John Hoyland, Alan Davie, Terry Frost and Eduardo Paolozzi.
This stunning abstract screen print shows Gresham's technical mastery. The image is a delight: complex, layered and bold colour ways, with such depth the finished artwork reads like a painting. Printed on a heavy wove cotton paper with deckle edges, it has a rich tactile presence.
