A beautifully, sensitive mid century watercolour painting titled 'After Sunset - Grasmere'. This painting captures the lakes and mountains with such grace and beauty. We look out over a lake to a small island with a hut positioned right in the centre of the scene, nestled between the blue mountains and their reflected mirror. The symmetry and consideration of colour has a timeless modernist signature. The olive greens, pierced through with transparent layers of lilac blue, show such a mastery of colour and material use all held together with a smoothest cotton paper. Framed and mounted in the original wooden frame.
