Ronald Moore (1914 - 2002) was born in Highfield's, Leicester. Moore was a well-regarded self-taught artist and a pioneer in art therapy — he is believed to have been the UK's second-ever art therapist. In 1967, he wrote a groundbreaking article for the Mercury titled "How art helps to heal the mind”.

Moore worked as an art lecturer and art critic at the Leicester Mercury from 1955 until 1996. Moores writing was much loved for its ability to make art accessible to all. He was the secretary of the Leicester Society of Artists for 21 years and exhibited in prestigious London Galleries.

A beautifully naive oil painting of a blue vase on blue table. The painting has such a sweet and honest style - I love the almost monochrome palette of blue contrasting with the textured earthy ochre background. This piece was painted in the early part of Ronalds painting career and shows his natural instincts to honest beauty.
